Roots of Revival

Sean Feucht--a worship leader out of California known for the “Let us Worship” movement standing against COVID-19 lockdown of churches—came to Pensacola to kick of the “Roots of Revival Tour” on Friday, March 16.
The twenty-one-stop tour was birthed from the fact that America’s history was shaped by many powerful moves of God over its near 250 years of existence.
The heart of it is “to remind America that God’s hand has been on this nation from the very beginning—and to ignite a fresh move of His Spirit today” a description of the event stated. The tour dates feature a variety of historically significant locations nationwide.
To start the tour off, Feucht partnered with Brownsville Assembly to host the event. Thousands gathered with eager expectation of another outpouring of the Holy Spirit.
Brownsville Assembly famously hosted what is known as the “the Brownsville Revival” that began in 1995 and roughly lasted for 5 years-- although many say it lasted even longer. In that time, it is said that 4 million people participated in mass repentance, worship, and prayer.
The night began with powerful prayer and declarations from Pastors and leaders of the church heavily focusing on Pensacola being the starting point of revival and for the next generation.
Feucht then began worship with the song “Get Free,” which celebrates the freedom the Lord has given us – encouraging us to put on the garment of praise.
Then nostalgia hit when a song written during the Brownsville Revival – “Revival Fire”—was sung in the congregation. Feucht announced that the song was recorded and will be released on a later date.
As worship continued, Feucht shared his experience of worshipping recently with a group of incarcerated men. He painted a picture of them being on the same level – knowing that they all messed up, were all in the same place, and all were wearing the same prison clothes. They all know they were failures and a lot were never going to be released.
“Oh, but when they got a hold of God…I thought I was free, until I was with them” he marveled.
He noticed a common theme of those prisoners and a problem in this nation.
“God began to speak to me while I was there…twenty four percent of children are growing up without a father in the home. We are the most fatherless generation in all of history.” He pointed out that needs to change.
“What’s crazy about where we are [today] is [that] in 1995, God moved in this place beginning – get this - on Father’s Day…the Lord is releasing a father’s heart message from this building.”
That message being - God, our Father, loves you and is chasing you down. He wants you to come home.
As the night went on, Feucht invited those who wanted to repent and get free from addictions to come to the altar to do business with God. Many laid down cigarettes, drugs, and other paraphernalia.
In a beautiful picture of the body of Christ, many believers then came forward to pray for the hundreds at the altar. Tears flowed, hands were laid, hugs were given, and lives were changed.
As the sun set, Russell Brand joined Feucht and delivered a small dose of his testimony. Brand recently surrendered his life to the Lord after years of living in the limelight and what he describes as addiction to “all drugs known to man.” His testimony struck a chord with and inspired many in attendance.
Finally, Feucht invited all who wanted to be baptized to join Brand and himself at the trough of water. Dozens made the choice to be baptized showing their commitment to Jesus publicly.
Closing the night out, Feucht lifted a prayer.
“Father let those who were freed tonight stay free; let those who were healed stay healed; those who were saved stay committed…Lord, we thank you that you promise the latter will be greater than the former. So, Lord, we ask for latter day move of your spirit!”
Leaving that night, it certainly felt like that prayer was being answered!
